Cornyn: Biden Doesn’t Care About Southern Border, Migrants Dying
Make no mistake about it: what is happening at the border is a result of a policy failure of the Biden Administration.
They apparently don't care about the young women and girls who are sexually assaulted en route. They apparently don't care about the migrants who die.
We cannot accept this as the new normal in Texas, or in America, for that reason. This is a battle that we did not ask for, but we must fight and we must win.
MCALLEN – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) gave the following remarks during a press conference after leading a delegation of Republican Senators to the southern border with Senator Cruz (R-TX):
“I’m glad Senator Cruz and I could host some of our colleagues from the United States Senate to come down here and learn from the experts what’s actually happening here on the border.”
“Make no mistake about it: what is happening at the border is a result of a policy failure of the Biden Administration.”
“Everything from the Department of Public Safety, to the National Guard, to our local communities here in the Rio Grande Valley, to local law enforcement, the local hospitals – you name it, they have to bear the burden of the failure of policy at the federal level.”
“I applaud Governor Abbott for doing what he can, using the authorities that he has, and I appreciate the fact that Texas has stepped up to try to fill the void.”
“The Biden Administration simply does not seem to care.”
“They apparently don’t care about the young women and girls who are sexually assaulted en route. They apparently don’t care about the migrants who die.”
“We cannot accept this as the new normal in Texas, or in America, for that reason. This is a battle that we did not ask for, but we must fight and we must win.”
Senators Cornyn and Cruz were joined by Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Joni Ernst (R-IA), John Barrasso (R-WY), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and John Hoeven (R-ND).
