WASHINGTON — Today U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after the Senate Rules Committee unanimously voted to approve the National Museum of the American Latino Act, his bill to authorize the Smithsonian Institution to create a museum honoring American Latinos:
“You can’t appreciate U.S. history without understanding the vast contributions made by American Latinos throughout our country’s tenure,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I’m grateful to my colleagues in the Senate Rules Committee for advancing this bill and Hispanic leaders in Texas for their continued support, and I look forward to passing it through the Senate so we can send it to the President’s desk before the end of the year.”
The next step for the legislation is to be voted on by the full U.S. Senate.
