Dear Fellow Texans:

I wish a very happy Diwali to all who celebrate.

As with many other holidays this year, the pandemic will render these Diwali celebrations quite different.  But with large family gatherings on hold, we can still celebrate the abundance of good in this world.

During this time of isolation, Diwali can help us focus on connection.  The inner light inside each of us beams strong, a wonderful reminder of the good in ourselves and those around us.  No matter the circumstances, Diwali reminds us that light will always triumph over darkness, as will good over evil.  Even in the most uncertain of times, Diwali will help us see opportunity and good.

I am proud to represent hundreds of thousands of Indian-Americans in Texas.  I have had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful country of India and also the honor of welcoming Prime Minister Modi in Houston and Washington, DC.  As a co-founder and co-chair of the Senate India Caucus, I will continue to advocate for a strong relationship between India and the United States so that both countries may prosper.

To all the Texans who celebrate Diwali, I wish you peace, joy, and prosperity.

God Bless you all, and may God continue to Bless the great state of Texas.

Sincerely,
John Cornyn
U.S. Senator for Texas
