Cornyn Statement on Anniversary of Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine
“As this conflict enters its second year, we must remember that a victory in Ukraine is a victory for all who value freedom.”
AUSTIN – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine:
“It’s been one year since Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian spirit remains unbroken and undeterred. As I saw firsthand in Kyiv last year, President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people have exemplified strength, resilience, and love of homeland in the face of a belligerent dictator, and they are winning this war because of it.”
“Putin’s invasion wasn’t just an attack on one nation. It was a message to the world that he will ignore the rights of a sovereign nation to get what he wants, no matter the human cost. Authoritarian regimes like Russia and China threaten the universal ideals that bond democracies together, and it is imperative we stand united in our support for the Ukrainian people.”
“As this conflict enters its second year, we must remember that a victory in Ukraine is a victory for all who value freedom.”
